Jail for bin bag-clad man who caused chaos in Lidl

A BOOZED-up lout wearing only a BIN BAG to cover his private parts threatened to batter and spit on staff at a Greenock supermarket. Craig Bell, 42, caused chaos as he staggered into the Lidl store on Custom House Way on Monday evening. Workers who d spotted his state of undress were subjected to threats of violence after telling him that he d have to leave the premises. Police were then called to the scene, leading to custody and a court appearance for Bell. Prosecutor John Penman told the sheriff court: The accused made his way to the bakery aisle in an attempt to remove goods whilst wearing only a jumper, and a bin bag around his waist.

Greenock Sheriff Court TWO children woken from their sleep by an early hours disturbance in a Greenock flat had to give 4am statements to police after hearing a man threatening to kill a woman. Andrew Haxton, 50, issued the threat towards his partner after she pleaded with him not to drink booze. Police were called out twice to their Ravenscraig Gardens home and arrested Haxton following the second visit after he shouted and swore at his partner. Prosecutor John Penman told the sheriff court: The complainer in this case had decided to have a drink the first since the birth of a child.
