December 14, 2020 Fewer families benefit from Toys for Tots this year Written by Geoffrey Plant on December 14, 2020 (Press Staff Photo by Geoffrey Plant) From left, Olga Sarli, Joe Nerling, Michael Lopez and Gina Maestas help deliver a sack of toys to a family during the drive-thru Toys for Tots distribution at the Santa Clara Armory on Saturday. The “contactless” event was held in accordance with COVID-19 pandemic restrictions under the state’s public health orders. A somewhat diminished Toys for Tots distribution day happened a little differently in Grant County this year due to the pandemic, but the local arm of the national program still managed to bring Christmas spirit to more than 1,400 area households so far.
