The worst enemies are from within

Daily Monitor Thursday April 08 2021 Summary Mathew 10:36 says, “And a person’s enemies will be those of his own household.” One feels secure when surrounded by family members but Jesus teaches that that security is not fully guaranteed Advertisement An enemy is a person who hates somebody or who acts or speaks against somebody or something. Enemies are imbued with deep hatred for others. This hatred is a result of jealousy, envy or dislike stemming from obvious happenings. Every human being, whether small or great, poor or rich has got an enemy. Enmity can exist between husband and wife, father and son an employer and employee.

There is great blessing  in peace making

Daily Monitor Friday January 29 2021 The New Living Translation Concordance defines peace as a state of tranquillity or quiet. It adds that peace is a pact or agreement to end hostilities between those who have been at war or in a state of enmity.  Additionally, peace refers to harmony in personal relations, especially with God. It is also a state of security or order within a community and freedom from disquieting or oppressive thoughts or emotions.  Peace is what everyone longs for in the world. Jesus Christ, the saviour of the world, is the Prince of peace. Isaiah 9:6 says: “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given:  And the government shall be upon His shoulder:  And his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, and the Prince of Peace.”

Believers are the salt of the world

This flavour gives the food the good taste that we enjoy. Just as salt affects the food, Christians must affect the world around them. If Christians become too much like the world, they become.

To be regarded as an elder calls for integrity

Daily Monitor Friday January 08 2021 An elder, according to the Old Testament in the Bible, was one vested with authority on grounds of seniority in age or experience (Exodus 3:16, Numbers 22:4). These Israelite elders were influential both locally (Ruth 4:2) and nationally (1st Samuel 8:4, 2nd Samuel 5:3 NIV Bible index).  In the New Testament, an elder is an officer in the local church charged primarily with spiritual oversight (Acts 14:23 and 1st Timothy 3:1-7).   Therefore, an elder is a leader of leaders or future leaders. He is an educator preparing future leaders for their offices. To lead is to show someone the way.  LEAD stands for, Letting Everybody Apply Directives. Leaders must give their followers clear directives to show them the right way. The right person to do this is, therefore, an elder because of his vast experience in a variety of things. ELDER stands for Educating Leaders Directly Exudes Responsibility.
