Greater Manchester’s leaders have welcomed plans for major reform of the railways - but fear a centralised system could silence the voices of the north.
A year ago, they got one of those miracles back.
John, who was 77 at the time, was working in a barn across from the coupleâs home with his son, Richard.
âWe were getting the hay equipment out and getting it around,â John said.
John was working on a tractor, standing between the front and rear wheels. He tried to fire the engine, not expecting it to start right away.
But it did. And it was in gear.
The rear wheel of the tractor ran up his leg.
âIt pulled me down,â John said. âIt knocked me down onto the cement.â
Itâs a community fundraiser.
Central Noble Food Pantry executive director Bonnie Brownell said the April 17 event at the Albion Pizza Depot is bring everyone together, from pantry volunteers to community-minded prize donors to the good folks at the Albion eatery.
The fundraiser will be held from noon to 8 p.m. The restaurant will donate 15% of all food orders, and all silent auction sales monies will be donated to the pantryâs new building fund. Auction items not picked up the day of the auction will be available from 1-3 p.m. on Sunday, April 18, at the new building, 601 N. Orange St. Albion.
