“Have more fun!”
The note from Burlington High School Music Director John Middleton-Cox was aimed at the student performers taking a breather on the high school stage, last week, but it was a good reminder to everyone that after a year of darkness, it is time to let loose a little.
“Into the Woods,” the Stephen Sondheim musical that weaves a story out of well-known Grimm’s fairy tales, is the Burlington High School spring musical. Its themes make it the right show for the pandemic era, Middleton-Cox said, and help children understand that even when life is sad and tragic “by staying together we can get through dark times.”
