Neurologist at Mount St. John’s Medical Centre Dr. Gaden Osbourne says high blood pressure is the main risk factor for stroke.
He says almost all of the cases that come through the Emergency Room or leads to the Intensive Care Unit, they tend to have markedly elevated blood pressure readings.
He says some people may be unaware that they are at a high risk for stroke because they fail to go in for annual health checks.
He adds those who have been officially diagnosed may lag in taking medication because they don’t feel affected by the symptoms of the condition.
