PATERSON The first wave of 675 school district employees will be getting COVID-19 vaccines next week as city education officials remain undecided whether to resume in-person classes this academic year.
The district last week sent emails to all 3,909 employees letting them know about the availability of the voluntary vaccines for educators, said Superintendent Eileen Shafer. About 1,200 said they would get inoculations and the rest did not respond, she said.
Shafer said the 675 appointments were given out to those who were the quickest to respond to the email. She said the others would get appointments as additional doses become available through the district’s two medical partners in the initiative: St. Joseph’s University Medical Center and Hackensack Meridian Health.
