In the wake of the Black Lives Matter movement, the city of Mountain View and the Mountain View Police Department have partnered with Stanford University to hire a research fellow tasked with analyzing local law enforcement data and providing context so officials may better communicate and develop healthy relationships with the community.
Alex Stephenson, a fifth-year UC Berkeley doctoral candidate studying political science, began his fellowship in November. It is an hourly position funded for a year.

“The work I’m doing, part of why I was drawn to it, is that it’s important and ostensibly could make the community of Mountain View better,” Stephenson said earlier this month in an interview with the Town Crier.
