The willingness with which our young people are likely to serve in any war, no matter how justified, shall be directly proportional to how they perceive the Veterans of earlier wars were treated and appreciated by their nation - President George Washington
In May, 2018 the Aurora Historical Society opened its exhibit honoring Aurora veterans who have unselfishly served our country. The exhibit showcased the cherished mementos loaned to the museum by veterans as well as items from the society’s collection. One of the items was A Wartime Log given to the society by an unknown donor. The “Log” belonged to Frank Stebbing, one of thousands of Allied soldiers taken prisoner during World War II. Stebbing was held prisoner in the German Stalag III B in Furstenberg, in Bavaria, Germany. While little is known about Stebbing, he was among American GIs taken prisoner during the fighting in North Africa in 1943.
