The Hood Museum’s recent acquisition of the John Kobal Foundation collection, consisting of more than six thousand “vintage” Hollywood photographs from the John Kobal Foundation, offers new inroads for research into American culture. Few other non-religious cultural phenomena come close to the depth of social and political influence of Hollywood. With these photographs, we have the opportunity to peel back some of the layers, revealing stories that have shaped our understanding of the American film industry and its impacts on life in the United States. Three experts will join Hood Museum Curator Emeritus Katherine Hart to discuss this impressive collection. Registration is required.
