of a d.c. councilman s chief of staff after he s arrested and charged with accepting bribes. hello, everybody. welcome to news4 at 4:00. i m jim handly. i m pat lawson muse. he is one of the top advisors to jim graham. ted loza has been with the councilman since 1998. this morning, he was taken into custody at his home by federal agents who then searched his office in the wilson building. an indictment unsealed today alleges loza took at least $1,500 in cash to help influence taxi cab legislation. graham is the head of the committee that oversees taxi cab issues. there is no evidence graham did anything wrong, and he tells news4 that he is not involved in any illegal activity. tom sherwood will have much more coming up here on news4 at 5:00. a breakthrough in aids prevention. for the first time an experimental vaccine prevented infection with the aids virus. it is a watershed event in the fight against the deadly epidemic, and it is a surprising result. brian moar rep

the offices of d.c. ward one council member jim graham searching for any evidence and work materials involving ted loza, graham s chief of staff and close confidante. he was arrested thursday morning at his home by the fbi. when i arrived at the office i went to mr. loza s office and said to the fbi agents, is there anything i can do to help? please assume our complete cooperation. reporter: as graham met with the staff, court documents showed loza was charged with two counts of bribery for accepting cash, vehicles and trips from someone trying to influence taxi cab legislation in graham s office. the person or company attempting to bribe loza was not identified in court papers. graham who rushed from a metro board meeting told reporters he personally had done nothing improper and knew of no wrong doing by loza or any staff members. can you say categorically whatever mr. loza was doing, he was not doing it on your behalf? absolutely. i had no engagement in any illegao
