With a portion of the park still closed due to the storms over the past couple of months, visitors are still showing up to take in the sights and sounds that Point Lobos has to offer.
COURT: John Hiles and Laura Prangley decided to abandon the appeal A DEBT-ridden couple cleared of killing their baby son have abandoned an appeal against a decision banning them from keeping dogs. John Hiles and Laura Prangley withdrew their appeal against sentence after their dog Crackers mauled two people on the same day in Malvern. Both appellants appeared together at Worcester Crown Court yesterday after they were sentenced for being in charge of a dog that was dangerously out of control. The couple was cleared of child cruelty following the death of their six week old son Connor Prangley who suffered 19 broken bones, including 17 rib fractures, and a head injury in 2006 after the prosecution said either could have been responsible for the baby’s injuries. When Hiles, 48, and Prangley, 37, of Duke of Edinburgh Way, Malvern adopted the dog, then known as Kaiser, he had already been beaten about the head with a metal pipe by a previous owner.
The abandoned dog, called Crackers, had been brutally attacked by a previous owner who had beaten him about the head with a metal pole. The dog carried out the attacks in Malvern just 12 hours after being adopted by the couple where it was hoped he would go on to live out a better, happier life. GUILTY: John Hiles and Laura Prangley. GUILTY: John Hiles and Laura Prangley leave court in November Although the dog will not be destroyed, he will now have to spend the rest of his life in a rescue centre to protect the public and must be muzzled and kept on a lead at all times if he goes outdoors.
