To catch up on a few of the daily events in the life of Kelley House, the recent past has brought a number of interesting and thoughtful donations. Where to begin? Artist Frank Wight of Hayward designed a bookplate for the reference library memorial books, a charming sketch of the house that will go to the printer soon.
A third way is low + close, to build at a modest scale, three to five storeys, but compact enough to significantly increase the density, and hence proximity to services. This is the sweet spot between two extremes: the lowest carbon demand for the best quality of living. Over the next few weeks I want to explore some examples.
