sense. clan jim clancy reported chinese media aren t making much of this. other things happening in china that may affect that perspective. we ve got nothing else to go on, anderson. this is it. it s either that or some very peculiar reports and rumors of radar pings and tracks that puts it a couple of hundred miles in the opposite direction. john, what do you make of these new images? three large objects? three large objects but it loo looks skeptical to me. they re too big to be pieces of the airplane. 70 feet by 70 feet across. the fuselage of a 777 is only 20 feet across. so if the size is right, of course maybe the satellite has miscalibrated or something like that. so that makes me skeptical. it s in the right location. everybody wants it to be there. so we ve just got to be careful jumping to conclusions.
concerned, and again we simply don t know, what are the main points you are watching very closely in all this? well again, what i d really like to know is more data on the radar track. my assumption from what they re saying is that the transponder was turned off so the normal air traffic control radar wasn t working. but military radars that are designed to see targets that are trying to hide, you can see because of the reflection of the radar off of the metal skin. it would be interesting to see what the altitude of the airplane was, was it descending or whatever. and i would be looking at the data right when they lost contact with it. so did they lose contact over that island because it was just too low and it was hard to seat target or too far away from the radar? or was the airplane coming down at that point? john hansman appreciate you being on. we ll continue to consult with you in the days ahead. still ahead on the program

and didn t crash. kerry sanders, inning stuff. thank you for walking us through all of that. let s bring in retired navy fighter pilot rick ozzie nelson. also with us, john hansman. he runs m.i.t. s international center for air transportation. john, what do you make of the timeline and the fact that the transmitters were shut off right as they are moving is this correct, from malaysia into vietnam? the malaysians have shifted the time lines a little bit. yesterday they have been saying that will was a dash one of the communication raid wroes shut off. then there was the last air traffic control communication and then another one was shut off p. today it looks more like the the systems were shut off or failed after the last communication. it takes a little bit that that s why they were so us is patient bus the crew right now.
authorities have searched the pilots home and found a flight simulator in the pilot s home. between heard from kerry sanders saying it is not all that uncommon for someone that loves to fly to have one of these things in their home. is this something that to you raises a red fling? is it possible for them to see if the pilot rehearsed something like this on the machine beforehand? yeah. it does not raise any red flags at all. a lot of people have flight simulators and this was very sophisticated one. i think it just goes to the fact that this pilot was you know, was very interested in flying. i do think that what they are looking for on flight simulator are prayer pilots that had been flown or flight tracks and i think that if, in fact, this was an intentional diversion and the captain was, you know, was responsible for it, that they are hoping that that would give some hint as to where he was trying to go which would help sort of narrow the search area. john, ozzie raised
