The FBI says human trafficking is modern-day slavery, with victims leading lives of misery, often being beaten, starved, and forced to work as prostitutes or take grueling jobs with little or no pay.
The Bureau says approximately 90 percent of the FBI’s human trafficking cases involve sex trafficking and 10 percent involve labor trafficking.
At the end of 2020, the FBI says they had more than 1,800 pending human trafficking investigations.
The FBI Omaha Office s Violent Crimes Against Children and Human Trafficking squad investigates these crimes in Nebraska and Iowa.
Supervisory Special Agent John Hallock leads the squad along with the field office’s Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force, which is made up of officers from local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies.
