In the news today we often hear the words, Constitution, overt act, incitement, deadly insurrection as we navigate the impeachment of a past president and a not so peaceful transfer of power from one administration to another.
The words and interpretation of the words in the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution, penned some 250 years ago, become more than ever an important guide where there is conflict in government. It is government by the people and for the people with elected officials and guidelines to follow. When the people feel they have been unfairly treated there is conflict and change. During the Revolution, most people just wanted food and fair trade. Today what people want is unclear with continuing division in government: we are divided.
