Troops rescue 23 kidnap victims, arrest bandits informant, recover 75 rustled animals in Kastina ― DHQ

Share The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) on Wednesday said that troops of Operation HADARIN DAJI have rescued 23 kinap victims including 18 women, five children, as well recovered 75 rustled animals from bandits in their efforts to safeguard lives and properties in the North Central zone of the country. According to the Coordinator,  Defence Media Operations  (DMO), Major General John Enenche, said the operation was executed on Tuesday following credible information on armed bandits’ activities at Wurma Village in Kurfi Local Government Area of the state. He explained that the troops in conjunction with personnel of the Nigeria Police Force swiftly mobilised to the location.

The ill-fated hunters on a routine patrol with the military drove over the explosives that killed them instantly beyond recognition, a local vigilante source said. According to the source, at least seven of his colleagues died in the attack, but could not confirm how many soldiers were affected. Kayamla village is barely two kilometers after a military base, Giwa Barracks which houses a detention facility for persons accused of war crimes.

The Coordinator, Defence Media Operations, Maj.-Gen. John Enenche, in a statement on Wednesday, said the rescue operation took place on Tuesday at Wurma Village in Kurfi Local Government Area of the state. Enenche said the troop also recovered 75 rustled livestock during the operation. He said troops in conjunction with personnel of the Nigeria Police Force swiftly mobilised to the location following credible information on the bandits activities in the village. According to him, the troops engaged the bandits who had kidnapped some locals and rustled some livestock from Kwayawa Village in Safana Local Government Area.
