America’s songbag will be opened by traditional folk singer FRITZ SCHULER. The songs that live in Schuler’s head were written a long, long time ago. They are the soul of the the country, born in the hearts of railroaders, hobos, outlaws, poor dirt farmers and lonesome cowboys. Songs about men and women who lived in tougher times than these. In true oral tradition, Schuler has spent the better part of forty years seeking out and learning from the old time Jug bands, String bands, wandering blues singers and poets of the Great Depression. In performance, this time capsule is opened before you.
Founded in 2012, Lake Effect Quartet strives to create fun and harmony for audiences throughout northeast Wisconsin. The group chose their name because everyone knows it’s “cooler by the lake” and they believe they provide some cool music for their audiences. Although the DNA of the quartet members has changed some over the years, their desire to ring chords and entertain their fans has not changed. Lake Effect has performed for audiences ranging from large corporate events to church services, at nursing homes, family gatherings, and community programs.
Sean is a guitarist, specializing in classical guitar. He enjoys songwriting as well. At a young age, he took an interest in the guitar and its possibilities. He began lessons at nine with guitarist Bob Shebesta. In high school Sean studied with Bob Balsley and Luke Thomas. His college years were at Lawrence University Conservatory, where he studied classical guitar under Dr. Nathan Wysock. It was at Lawrence University that Sean took a deeper interest in classical music and art history.
