Medford swimmers enjoy success in pool, despite COVID rules
Dom Nicastro / Correspondent
There’s a lot to be thankful for if you are the Medford High School swimming coach.
Longtime coach Mary Judge (30-plus years) was able to navigate her team successfully through this truncated season, despite restrictions, because of the pandemic. The season didn’t start until last month. It usually begins the Monday after Thanksgiving.
Her team was still able to win three of its four meets so far this season. Here’s how the meets have broken down: Malden 93, Medford 77; Medford 82, Lynn English 76; Medford 91, Lynn Classical 78; and Medford 94, Somerville 73.
Under the proposed change, five participating districts would pay less, and six would pay more.
The Millcreek Township School Board wants to change the way that local school districts pay for improvements at Erie County Technical School.
A funding formula change proposed by Millcreek would save the district about $5 million when bills for $27,775,000 in planned renovations at the school come due.
It also would save money for four other Erie County school districts that send students to the school: Fairview, Fort LeBoeuf, General McLane and Harbor Creek.
Six participating school districts would pay more: Girard, Iroquois, North East, Northwestern, Union City and Wattsburg. The bill for the Iroquois and Union City school districts would triple. Girard s obligation would double.
