Subscriber only Only weeks after he was given a chance to get help for his underlying issues by the courts, a young man turned back to offending by helping destroy a car belonging to a vulnerable man. Thomas John Coonan, 22, pleaded guilty in Bundaberg District Court on Monday to one count of arson and another charge of unlawful use of a vehicle. The court heard a vehicle belonging to a paraplegic man was stolen on October 16 last year, Coonan was not alleged to have stolen the car. The following morning on October 17, Coonan and a co-offender got into the car and pulled into a service station.

In November young people from Music Generation Kilkenny release their debut single titled Feel The Victory.
Following an intensive virtual song-writing camp, the young people of Music Generation Kilkenny wrote, performed and recorded Feel The Victory at the DRUM Youth Centre, in partnership with Foróige.
Written during lockdown by the talented young people of Music Generation Kilkenny, the video was produced and shot in Kilkenny city.

Minister of State at the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage, Deputy Peter Burke, T.D., in a short visit to Kilkenny City yesterday met a number of business people, traders and shoppers.
He visited the pop-up shop “Made in Kilkenny” which showcases the works of craft producers in County Kilkenny. This was followed by a short visit to the weekly farmers markets on the Parade.
The Minister was very complimentary on the changes made in Rose Inn Street and High Street with the introduction of one-way system giving pedestrians and shoppers more space as they move about in the City. As it was Christmas he made a special visit to the Christmas Experience in the grounds of the Medieval Mile Museum to ensure that Santa was busy getting all those presents ready for all the children. The Minister made a short visit to Kieran Street and into the Market Yard to see the additional outdoor seating provided during Covid to facilitate outdoor dining/takeaw
