these accusations and some don t? well, our politicians don t have an hr department, you know. they re certainly in congress we have seen the wave of sexual harassment victims has exposed how congress deals with sexual harassment, you know. it s this convoluted process. you have to go through 30s days of therapy in order to get your, you know, accusation heard. and, you know, in our current climate, what seems to be winning the day is denial. deny, deny, deny, as the president has said about roy moore. he denies it. he really denies it. so, therefore, i m going to support him and endorse him because i need his vote. that s really what s happened here in this roy moore debacle. you know, let s roll back the tape a few weeks.
congressman conyers, nancy pelosi and some other democrats have abandoned you as you ve gone through this challenge. some people are saying it s time for congress to open the books and share the names of all of the congress people who are responsible for $7 million in these kinds of sexual harassment lawsuits to be paid out. do you think those books should be opened? i think there should be a complete disclosure and revealing to all of the citizens of the country of what their federal legislatorses, federal legislators are doing or not doing. and any costs that may have been incurred as a result of that. so my answer to that is a
conferees wrestle this. second to the last question or last question, andy. so, in response a conference question. explicitly say you still support the december 22nd [ inaudible ]. we re having a conversation with the members on what we think the best date forward is to go. you will see when we bring the bill to the floor. thank you. that was house speaker paul ryan, other leaders answering questions about the status of the tax plan. they will announce their conferries and meet with the senate conif ferries and put together a new plan voted on by both bodies and talking about the spending deadline. of course right now they re looking at extending that until december 22nd. no new update on that. meanwhile, the big news from congress today, is that the longest serving member of the house of representatives, john conyers, just announced he is retiring as of now. as of today in the face of
it s an interesting question, john conyers quit today, mark preston. he s 88 years old. maybe he was going to retire sooner or later anyway. he quit. you know, roy moore isn t. what s different here? why do some politicians survive this type of thing and why do others not? incredible amount of pressure on john conyers to leave congress from within and i think what we saw is behind the scenes his allies were telling him it s time to go. roy moore on the other side of things doesn t have any allies here in washington, other than the steve bannons of the world. he sees no reason to get out and by sticking in and staying in, and to doug s point right there, getting the support of those who look back towards washington as the establishment and anything that happens here is wrong and bad, that s why you see roy moore in. look, he ran as a candidate who didn t have the support of the republican establishment. remember he was the outsider. he beat the republican-backed
especially in my oldest boy, john conyers, iii, who incidentally i endorse to replace me in my seat in congress, so we re all working together to make this country a better one, to make a quality and justice more available for any, and with dr. luther king, that s the issue that brought us in this thing together and we ve been steadily moving forward and we re going to continue to do so. for for those listening, i want you all to make sure you heard that news bomb that congressman just dropped, and that is, that he s endorsing his son, john conyers, iii, to replace him.
