MIT professor Koroush Shirvan, with students from over 16 countries, is accelerating the development of accident-tolerant fuels, a program launched in the wake of the 2011 Fukushima Daiichi incident. The goal within this program is to develop new forms of nuclear fuels that can tolerate heat.
