AKRON, Ohio – Until the cold weather returns, a flock of sheep will wander the broad lawn of the Perkins Stone Mansion in Akron, just as they did 180 years ago when the area was known as Mutton Hill.

One of Newburgh s most notable pieces of architecture is the 1835 Dutch Reformed Church, located next to the Newburgh Free Library. Today, the front of the church features raised garden beds growing fresh vegetables as part of the Newburgh Urban Farm and Food Initiative.Cloey Callahan
City of Newburgh historian Mary McTamaney described the small, four-square-mile city of Newburgh as a “treasure box of architectural styles” with history captured in the building of the city’s blocks throughout the years.
“Newburgh was prosperous long enough to have many styles come and go in popularity,” said McTamaney.
