After 100 days of operation, the second deployment of the DCU Center Field Hospital is coming to an end Monday.
Tonight, all staff and patients will be out of the state s last remaining COVID-19 field hospital. Since December, 652 patients have been treated at the DCU Center, and in its two deployments over the past year, more than 950 patients total have come through the facility’s doors.
As of Monday morning, one patient is remaining receiving care. It will be determined later in the day whether that patient will be discharged or transferred to UMass Memorial.

DCU Center field hospital population begins to steady
WORCESTER The DCU Field Hospital has begun to keep steady range in population size as the state deliberates what its capacity might look like in March.
There are currently 31 patients at the facility, Peter Lancette, director of the field hospital’s operations and the facility’s assistant chief nursing officer, said. That is a decline of three patients since last Monday. Last week, 40 patients were admitted into the field hospital. The maximum census at the hospital was 67 patients. Since the facility reopened in spring, 584 patients have been cared for so far.
Dr. John Broach, medical director of the DCU Center field hospital, previously told the Telegram in late January that the field hospital had been on a slow decline. Lancette said the population size has begun to keep a steady range between the mid-30s to high-20s. The hospital is averaging about seven to 10 admissions and discharges a day.
