Town go into tonight’s home match against Burton Albion - the first competitive match between the sides - looking to bring their run of five games without either a win or a goal to an end.
Skipper Luke Chambers ended Town’s goal drought with a 15th minute goal and the Blues are 1-0 up against Burton Albion at half-time in the first ever competitive game between the clubs.
Marcus Harness’s goal was enough to see Town to a 1-0 victory over his old club Burton Albion at the Pirelli Stadium, moving the Blues a point clear at the top of League One. Town didn’t have it all their own way against the Brewers, however, with the home side having come closest to scoring on a number of occasions before Harness’s low shot from the edge of the area on the hour mark secured the three points.
Blues boss Paul Lambert believes his young Blues side has to aim to challenge for promotion from League One in the season ahead but warns that they have no divine right to be in that position. Town begin their first third-tier campaign for 62 years at Burton Albion on Saturday.
