Live theater is back, and Evolution Theatre Company couldn t have made a better choice for its return that the area premiere of “From White Plains,” now showing at the Abbey Theater of Dublin.
Not that it s a flashy play. It s a four-person character study, with the simplest of sets.
But it gives a consistently able cast, under Joe Bishara s nuanced direction, a chance to demonstrate how absorbing watching and listening to a couple guys talking can be.
The plot is equally simple. Thirtysomething screenwriter Dennis (Monty Almoro) has just won an Oscar for a script based on his experience in high school in the New York suburb of White Plains, where he and a classmate were bullied by a guy a year older, causing the classmate to kill himself.
