The Ontario Sires Stakes Grassroots season for two-year-old trotting fillies kicked off Saturday afternoon (July 2) at Hiawatha Horse Park with a pair of divisions.
A total of 15 trotting fillies will make their Ontario Sires Stakes Gold debut on Sunday night (July 3) at Georgian Downs, including Shiny New Penny in the second division for trainer Benoit Baillargeon. She will be the first starter from Alarm Detector’s first crop.
Woodbine Mohawk Park hosted the two-year-old fillies on Thursday evening (June 23) with a winning debut from Righteous Resolve, a full sister to the 2021 O’Brien Award winner Duly Resolved.
Three-year-old trotting colts and geldings kicked off their Ontario Sires Stakes season with a set of Gold divisions Monday evening at Woodbine Park, and fans got the best of both worlds – one winning favourite and an upsetter.
