Norman s City Council election results were finalized around 8 p.m. Tuesday, leaving one race to be decided in a runoff and one incumbent unseated by a Unite Norman endorsed challenger.

Matt McGarry has won the Ward 2 City Council seat, beating out two opponents Tuesday.
Unofficial results from the Oklahoma State Election Board s site show that with all precincts reporting, Matt McGarry received 51.32% of the vote, Jay Wendorff received 42.27% of the vote, and John Argo received 5.24%.Â
Edward McGuire filed for the seat and appeared on the ballot, but dropped out of the race. McGuire received 29 total votes. I want to thank all of the voters of Ward 2, McGarry said in a text message Tuesday. We did this together, and together we will work to make Norman the very best city it can be!â

Norman City Council candidates revealed their positions on police reform, public health policies and other key issues facing their wards during a Transcript-hosted debate Wednesday.
The following is a summary of their answers to several questions.
Ward 1
Brandi Studleyâs first priority is transportation, especially a plan to help those who live in a food desert where a bus stop is not close to a grocery store, she said.
While Studley said she has been speaking with Ward 7 Councilor Stephen Holman about the cityâs transportation plan, she did not specify a plan to pay for a stop in the area.
