Another whale in five weeks washed ashore. Scientists along with everyone else is wondering whats going on. Debora villalon is wondering what is going on with the rash of dead whales. Reporter it may just be these whales washed up in places we can see them instead of more remote spots. But experts are intrigued. Park rangers on saturday found what has become a frequent sight lately. A dead whale. This one a young 28foot gray washed up on Portuguese Beach between jenner and bodega bay. It seems we have a spike of mortality that were seeing them wash up on various beaches. The fact were seeing so many within such a short period of time and such a small Geographic Area is setting off alarms. Reporter last week a decaying gray whales was found rolling on the surf on half moon bay. An adult female, 40 feet long. Mendocino county got a stranded gray. This is the tail end of the gray whale migration. And theyre health can be diminished by hunger. They have not fed since they left arctic water

A somber ceremony is about to begin to mark memorial day at Arlington National cemetery. We have a live picture to show you this morning. President obama very soon will lay a wreath at the tomb of the unknown soldier, a moving tribute to the men and women who gave their lives for our country. President obama will also speak this morning after he lays that wreath in the cemeterys memorial amphitheatre. The white house is reminding that this is the first memorial day since the end of combat operations in afghanistan. 10,000 american troops will stay in afghanistan in other rules through the end of the year.
