Irish couple tragically die in house fire in Co Roscommon

Irish police are investigating after a couple died in a house fire in County Roscommon in the early hours of Thursday morning.
Joey Tumulty, 54, and his partner Nuala Kenny, 44, died after a fire broke out in their home in Gurth, South Roscommon at about 2 a.m. on Thursday, May 13.
Three units of the fire brigade and an ambulance attended the scene on Thursday and were assisted by gardaí from Roscommon, Clonark, and the Galway town of Ballinasloe.

Galway Bay fm newsroom – A couple who died in a house fire near Ballinasloe in the early hours of this morning have been named locally as Joey Tumulty and Nuala Kenny.
Both were aged in their mid-forties and are originally from the local area.
Four fire appliances from Ballinasloe and Athlone stations attended the scene at Gurth, Rooty Cross, on the Roscommon-Galway border about 13 kilometres from Ballinasloe, around 2am.
The bodies have since been removed to University Hospital Galway, where post mortem examinations will be carried out.
The two-storey house has been sealed off and Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to contact them at Roscommon Garda Station on 090 6437102, the Garda Confidential Line or any Garda station.

Joey Tumulty, who was 54, and 44-year-old Nuala Kenny, both died when a blaze gutted their home near Rooty Cross, Moore, in the early hours of Thursday morning.
Mr Tumulty was a plasterer who had worked in a local farm supply business in Ballinasloe, while Ms Kenny, who was originally from Clonburrenm, was a health care worker.

Postmortems are taking place on their bodies after which the Gardai will determine their investigations. It s understood the incident is not being treated as suspicious at this stage.
