Etowah County Leaders pushing to get more COVID-19 vaccines Etowah County s vaccine problem By Randi Hildreth | February 4, 2021 at 6:16 AM CST - Updated February 4 at 6:16 AM ETOWAH COUNTY, Ala. (WBRC) - Etowah County leaders are trying to figure out why they’re not getting more COVID vaccine doses after they say the state told them don’t expect more shipments until possibly March. “We have a second dose vaccine clinic set for tomorrow, but after that there are very minimal first dose opportunities,” said Deborah Gaither, Gadsden Etowah County EMA Director. “We were told it would be like that during the month of February. We could potentially get more vaccine in March.”

Etowah County Commission not ready to sit back and accept CARES loss

Etowah County Commissioner Craig Inzer got a text message Tuesday from the Whorton Bend fire chief, telling him the department had just received an automated basic life support device an automated CPR machine. Over the last couple of years, some fire departments in Etowah County have added those devices to their equipment, and have found them to be literal life savers. The devices allow emergency medical service personnel to start chest compressions with the portable machine, and continue consistent compressions from the time they treat a patient on the scene, through transport to a hospital and until hospital personnel can take over treatment.
