The US Northern Command (USNORTHCOM) is winding up tests of its new Long-Range Discrimination Radar (LRDR) as part of a significant upgrade of its defense against inter-continental ballistic missile (ICBM) to fend off a potential nuclear attack on mainland US from North Korea.
The LRDR not only will improve ballistic missile tracking for homeland defense, but also will contribute to space domain awareness, said Northern Command's Director of Operations Brig. Gen. Joey Lestorti.
