While the end result was by a margin of more than 30 points with Belmont never trailing, the Lakers hung with the Red Raiders during the opening minutes of the game thanks to some solid defensive play. The game was tied 4-4 but with five minutes remaining in the first frame the Red Raiders stormed ahead with an 8-0 run to make it a 12-4 game.
