Construction was suspended on 10 December 1931, plunging thousands into unemployment and poverty in the weeks before Christmas. Looking over Dumbarton Road from the tenements opposite, the rust-red hull of the unfinished ship must have resembled the skeleton of some extinct behemoth, and workers – from the riveters and caulkers of the black squads to the engineers, fitters and foremen – must have feared that extinction too would be the ultimate fate of their industry.

WHECTV ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC)  Some local advocates are standing together to try to end abortions. Members of ROC Love Will End Abortion, The Fredrick Douglass Foundation, Students for Life, Am I Not a Child, and many other church leaders gathered Saturday morning at the Planned Parenthood on University Avenue in Rochester.  It s part of the March for Life s Together Strong campaign this year. Organizers say they hope to speak with pregnant women considering abortion in a non-confrontational way.
