Cult jazz collective Uncomfortable Science are hitting Bodriggy for an April residency Words by Arielle Richards Enliven your Wednesdays at Bodriggy. An Uncomfortable Science residency is set to invigorate Bodriggy’s headquarters over the next four weeks, across each Wednesday in April. Uncomfortable Science, the eclectic brainchild of frontman Lachlan Mitchell, is a collective that sees an ever-changing roster of musicians brought together onstage for a completely-improvised jam. What you need to know Uncomfortable Science is performing a residency at Abbotsford’s Bodriggy Brewing Co. this April The free events will take place each Wednesday, from 7pm The gigs will each see a completely different ensemble of artists performing on strings, percussion and keys, with a different DJ each week as well

Sunday Smallgoods DATE Genre Bodriggy are very excited to welcome Izy, pronounced eye-zee, for the first time, coming off their recent show in Sidney Myer Music bowl for Sun Cycle festival. Izy are deeply connected to their roots and their families, both the band and the album are named after Irene, Guitarist Ryo Montgomery’s paternal grandmother; an important source of support and comfort in the band’s formative years. Ryo, bassist Warrigo Tyrrell and drummer Maru Nitor Zamatarro each cut their teeth young, playing with their parents in three very different musical families. Ryo grew up shifting between his mother’s home in rural Japan and his father’s blues bar in Cairns where he watched legends of guitar ply their trade and did his first shows. Maru was playing guiro in his parent’s cumbia band Los Caracoles before he turned five. Warrigo grew up jamming on Shadows covers and Aboriginal protest rock with his fathers and brothers, members of the K
