The district is made up of five director districts and two âat largeâ seats.Â
The seats available in November election include:
District 1 (2 year term) Carrie Mattix- incumbent
District 2 (2 year term) Jodi Breckenridge Petit- incumbent
District 3 (4 year term) Cheri Post- incumbent
District 4 (4 year term) Joe Smith- incumbent
District 5 (4 year term) Greg Reed- incumbent
At large (4 year term) Jeannie Peters- incumbent
Joel McBride, current board president, is not up for re-election but will be term limited when his term is up in November 2023.Â
The Salida School Board will host an open house and informational work session at 5 p.m. May 13, in the board room on the second floor of the Kesner building, 349 E. Ninth St. for those interested in the 2021 School Board Election.Â

The Board of Education of Salida School District R-32-J will host an Open House/Informational Work Session for all those interested in the 2021 School Board Election. The work session is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday May 13 on the second floor of the Kesner building- Board Room, 349 East Ninth Street in Salida, CO.
The Salida School Board reminds all voters in the Salida School District of the November 2, 2021 election. The School District is comprised of five director districts and two “at large” seats. Six seats included in the election are the following:
District 1 (2 year term) Carrie Mattix- incumbent
This was the first year Clifton Larson Allen had performed an audit for the district.
Sheila Moore, district business manager, said the audit was very thorough.Â
The draft copy of the audit was approved unanimously by the school board at their regular meeting Tuesday.
Longfellow Elementary School principal Chuck McKenna gave the board a detailed report.
McKenna said there are currently 374 students attending Longfellow and another 48 attending the online option.
He said by Jan. 4 they expected at least seven new students to attend Longfellow for a total of 429.
The pupil count for January 2020 was 434.
Several of the principals spoke of the shifting that will take place between those who have been attending an online option first semester, returning back to in-person and vice versa as students and parents assess their needs.
