A soldier in the Wisconsin National Guard was charged Monday in connection with the deadly riots at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6.
According to the Associated Press and the Washington Post, Abram Markofski, a private first-class in the 1st Battalion, 128th Infantry of the Wisconsin Guard, was charged with four counts of entering and remaining in a restricted building and disorderly or disruptive conduct in a restricted building or grounds by federal prosecutors on Monday.

A soldier in the Wisconsin National Guard was charged Monday in connection with the Capitol riot Jan. 6, becoming the fourth service member linked to the violent attempt to thwart the certification of Joe Biden’s election as president.
Abram Markofski and an associate were arrested Monday in Wisconsin and each charged with four counts related to the Capitol breach, including violent entry or disorderly conduct and entering restricted spaces, according to the Justice Department.
Markofski, a private first class, enlisted in the Army National Guard in 2019, said Maj. Joe Trovato, a spokesman for the Wisconsin National Guard. He is an infantryman assigned to the 1st Battalion, 128th Infantry Regiment.

The Justice Department charged a soldier in the Wisconsin National Guard for storming the Capitol during the January 6 insurrection.
Abram Markofski and an associate allegedly traveled to DC together to attend then-President Donald Trump’s protest against the certification of the 2020 presidential election. After the rally ended, investigators say Markofski and his associate walked to the Capitol and spent about 40 minutes inside the building.
Markofski has been charged with four federal crimes, including violent entry or disorderly conduct. He has not yet entered a plea.
Maj. Joe Trovato, a spokesperson for the Wisconsin National Guard, said that Markofski enlisted in the Army National Guard in 2019. He is currently a private first class assigned to the 1st Battalion, 128 Infantry Regiment. Trovato declined to comment further.
Wisconsin National Guard Member, Associate, Charged in Relation to US Capitol Breach
A soldier of the Wisconsin National Guard and his friend were taken into custody for allegedly taking part in the U.S. Capitol breach earlier this year, federal officials said.
Abram Markofski was arrested on Monday and is facing four charges in relation to the protests, the Department of Justice said in a statement.
Markofski allegedly traveled by vehicle from Madison, Wisconsin to D.C. together with his associate, Brandon Nelson, to attend the protest of then-President Donald Trump against the certification of the 2020 presidential election, a statement of facts (pdf) reads.
