Tillotson began his career while he was pursuing an M.B.A. at SMU. He founded numerous businesses, including bars, restaurants and real estate services, according to the obituary. In addition to the Katy Trail Ice House and Redfield’s Tavern, he helped to launch The Barley House, Banditos Tex-Mex, Muddy Waters and Bryan Street Tavern. Other non-hospitality businesses included Your Home Base VRBO and Defeaseit Commercial Loan Services.
