City of Cape Coral relocates several burrowing owl nests in Joe Stonis Park
CAPE CORAL, Fla. – As the official bird of the city, burrowing owls are well-known and well-loved in Cape Coral.
“The residents of the city are very protective of the burrowing owls,” Cheryl Anderson with Cape Coral Friends of Wildlife said.
“I love them,” said Cape Coral resident Alta Raymond. “They’re the cutest little things in the world.”
“Typically we don’t hear complaints because I would say more people love the owls and think they’re wonderful,” Pascha Donaldson, president of the Cape Coral Wildlife Trust said.
