WOOD RIVER Plans to consolidate Bethalto’s dispatching services into Wood River are moving forward and are expected to be completed around April 1, according to information provided at Wednesday’s Emergency Telephone Systems Board meeting this week.
Plans for the consolidation began in October 2018 when it was announced that the East Alton Public Safety Answering Point, or PSAP, would be closing and consolidating with Wood River. PSAPs are the 911 call centers.
The plans also coincided with the overall Madison County 911 plan to cut the number of PSAP’s in half to eight.
