Pueblo School District 60 and Pueblo County School District 70 announced they will be keeping COVID protocols in place for the remainder of the academic year.
On May 14, Pueblo Community College will graduate nine students from its first bachelor of science in nursing program.
The degree program came about after the Colorado General Assembly passed legislation in 2018 which allowed community colleges across the state to offer bachelor s degrees in nursing.
The bill was in response to the increasing demand for nurses across Colorado and the shortage of bachelor s level nurses in the state.
One of the nine graduates of PCC s bachelor s in nursing program, Robert Wright, will be able to use his bachelor s to move up at Parkview Health System where he works as a registered nurse (RN) in the cardio-thoracic surgery department.
It will begin as a K-9 school this fall and will add a new grade level each year until it s fully complete as a K-12 school in 2024. Core knowledge concepts are implemented and at each grade level, there are certain expectations for students before they move on to the next level, Dave Martin, interim executive director of PSAS, said. There are content standards that we develop for each grade level.
Another part of the classical learning approach is its leadership model. Students are given different leadership roles and have certain responsibilities.
Examples of student responsibilities include managing outcomes within their classes.
