Christmas came early for the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office when area businesses and citizens donated and presented a specially built rifle to deputies last week.
Sheriff Brent White says the project began when Bill Ross learned the sheriff’s office did not have a dedicated long-range sniper rifle. He says Ross previously owned and operated a firearms business out of state before moving to Lyon County, and is a longtime supporter of law enforcement. He adds Ross began talking to businesses in the community, including Akridge Farm Supply, McEnaney Enterprises, Dr. David French, and others, who all agreed to help financially support the project.
