The met office says delays to road, rail and air travel are likely and is warning of possible power cuts. Glasgow airport says is operations have restarted after they were suspended earlier. A yellow warning is in place for snow and ice in Northern Ireland and parts of england and southern scotland throughout the day. Theres an amber warning for areas of the north midlands, yorkshire and the north west of england until iiam, with heavy snow forecast around the southern pennines. Between 5 and 10 centimetres of snow is expected, with up to 15 centimetres possible over higher ground. And sub zero temperatures have been recorded overnight with lows of minus 12 in northern scotland. Highways england is advising drivers to plan theirjourney carefully before setting off.
