Although this prevents deportation, it is not a pathway to citizenship. But, with the recent executive orders regarding immigration signed, many recipients are wondering if there is a possibility of something more permanent. One of the executive orders President Biden signed and reinstates the DACA program, which was implemented back in 2012 to prevent people who arrived at the U.S as children and qualify for the program from deportation.

From staff reports STEUBENVILLE The Herald-Star and The Weirton Daily Times are looking for area residents who have been able to capture the spirit of our region in photographs. They are doing that through the Scenes of the Ohio Valley Photo Contest. Six winners each will have their photographs published in the newspapers and each will receive a $25 gift card from a business in the Ohio Valley. “This contest offers a great way for our readers to get involved with the newspapers,” said John Hale, publisher of the Herald-Star and The Weirton Daily Times. “We want it to be a showcase of photographs taken by residents from across the region.”

T-L File Photo MARTINS FERRY The Martins Ferry City School District Board of Education started 2021 with talk about how to resume in-person education during the COVID-19 pandemic and some students’ need to be in the classroom setting to avoid falling behind. Following a week of remote learning after the Christmas and New Year break, the district is resuming its hybrid model of remote and in-person learning in January.
