Many of us from Western Pennsylvania know there’s nothing like waking up on a cold winter morning and hearing the words, “Snow day, school is cancelled.”
Although, since COVID-19 has made virtual learning from home a viable option for many school districts, what will the future of snow days look like?
As a result of this week’s winter storm, Windber Area School District opted for two virtual days instead of cancelling classes.
“If we can keep that schedule and have consecutive days, that’s our plan,” said WASD Superintendent Joe Kimmel.
Kimmel said letting students work from home will help keep them in a routine, and they won’t have to tack on school days to the end of the year.
