constitutional protections for abortion that women have had for nearly 50 years. and now leaving it up to states to decide whether abortion should be legal within their borders. at least 26 states are either boysed to or have already banned abortion. the ruling cheered by anti-abortion supporters after decades fighting but a broad majority of americans disagreeing with that ruling. in a cnn poll conducted weeks ago, 66% of americans did not want the supreme court to completely overturn roe v. wade. cnn has reporters on ground covering this seismic decision. let s go first to cnn s joe johns outside of the u.s. supreme court where i know it is very noisy and a lot people there. what are you seeing? reporter: it is noisy, fred. and we have seen a lot of clanting, a bit of confrontation because there have been people here on both sides of this issue. yelling at each other. it is largely peaceful. talking to people in the crowd, you get a real sense of what brought them and the
one of the california planned parenthood. live from cnn center, this is cnn cnn newsroom with kim brunhuber. and we begin in ukraine where two largest cities are taking fire from russia heavy weapons. in kyiv the mayor says a number are trapped after a missile attack earlier this morning. he says at least two people have been hospitalized. ukraine s air force says russia hit the city with at least four missiles launched from strategic bombers. while in kharkiv, officials say russian artillery again pummeled residential areas leaving at least two injured, a number of apartment buildings were truck along with a medical facility. and regional official says russia may be preparing a ground attack in eastern donetsk region. he says russia is massing forces there including armored vehicles. and in germany, f 7 g7 leade are gathering. we saw president biden arrive for a meeting with chancellor scholz. and dominating the agenda of course is russia s war in ukraine. there is
u.s. supreme court. 26 states are expected to implement abortion bans in the near future. at least ten of them already have since friday s stunning ruling. in mississippi, a statewide abortion ban will be triggered sometime in the next ten days or so. the jackson women s clinic, whose name is enshrined in supreme court precedent vows to remain open until the last possible moment. the vast majority of protests so far have been noisy, passionate and peaceful but there have been some scattered unrest. riot police confronted marchers on friday with batons and tear gas. cnn correspondents are across the country following the ruling. let s begin with joe johns in washington. what we saw at the court today was anger, outrage and fear about the future after the court overturned roe versus wade. there was a large crowd out here made up of mostly abortion rights supporters.
days and days beforehand. interesting also to note that among the people that i ve talked to here in the crowd, one, a woman from dallas made the point that she said, looking, this about more than just roe v. wade, more than just about abortion. it is about the whole bundle of rights that have been accumulated by americans by and through the supreme court over the years, things like contraception, and so on, privacy, things that americans very much treasure but are not mentioned in the united states constitution. so, this rally continues. it has started to grow over the last couple of hours. we re seeing more people, not less. fred, back to you. joe johns in washington. camilla in los angeles, what is t the scene there? well there is a lot of chanting going on. there is also a large group of
