Annapolis Teen Competes For Spot In Summer Olympics: Report - Annapolis, MD - An Annapolis swimmer will compete for a spot in the Tokyo Olympics, WBAL reported. Hundreds wished the teen luck as he left for the meet.

St. Mary s High School in Annapolis hopes to send one of its own to the Olympic Games for the first time.
Maryland, of course, has a rich and impressive tradition in history when it comes to Olympic swimming. And more than 800 people gathered Tuesday morning at St. Mary s High School to wish Joe Hayburn luck and send him off to the Olympic Trials. It is the most incredible experience that I’ve ever done in my entire life, said Hayburn, 17. It’s such an honor competing against some of the greatest athletes in the entire country, and it really is a blessing especially someone my age and only has a sophomore in high school to be able to be exposed to that level of competition.

It turned out to be so much more.
They left the tree up thinking other beach-loving families would want to capture their own holiday memories. Soon Christmas ornaments and seashells with messages written on them covered the tree.
“It just became this huge thing down here,” said McElwee, a year-round Ocean City resident. It was so popular she said they had to do it again.
