Jimmy Butler did his part on Friday night to try to send the Miami Heat home with a victory to cap their four-game trip.
But his 30 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists weren t enough as the Heat dropped their third game in a row, this time to the lowly Minnesota Timberwolves.
And now Miami returns home Sunday against a much tougher opponent when it hosts the Brooklyn Nets. You just think we re such a good team, and then reality hits us, we re humbled, Butler said. And I m glad. Because that s what this game does to you, home, away, no matter what opponent you re playing against, you just stroll into the game thinking you re nice, you re good, this is what happens. If we don t fix it, I hope it continues to happen to us.

Nets (37-17) at Sixers (37-17)
• The Nets and Sixers enter their final meeting of the regular season at the top of the Eastern Conference standings with matching 37-17 records and a 1-1 split in the season series, so this game will determine the tiebreaker should it be needed at season’s end. Since Philly’s win on Feb. 6, the Nets have gone 23-6 (0.793) – the second-best record in the league behind Phoenix (26-6) and 3.5 games better than Philadelphia (20-10).

Before I start any basketball-related talk, I strongly encourage you to read Josh Clement’s emotional piece from earlier this morning, if you haven’t done so already. As a contributor here at Canis Hoopus, I find it difficult to spend time writing about a game as opposed to the very real issues of racial injustices that continue to plague our country. I can also respect those who choose to set their boundaries accordingly and engage in basketball discourse here, or even yearn for NBA games as some sort of escape from the tragedies that continue to unfold day after day.
