Detroit city clerk: Mayor Mike Duggan should be on primary ballot

Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan should be certified for the August primary ballot because confusion over his campaign finance reports has been cleared up, City Clerk Janice Winfrey said Wednesday. In a brief interview, Winfrey said it s very clear the mayor s name should be on the ballot because Wayne County Clerk Cathy Garrett issued a statement Tuesday night declaring Duggan s campaign finance reports are in compliance. The agreement between city and county officials that Duggan s campaign finance reports are in order appears to nullify an attempt earlier this week from mayoral challenger Anthony Adams to derail Duggan s reelection effort by throwing him off the August primary ballot.
