Meanwhile, matt pace has been out there tracking the storms in the 12 news stormtracker. We checked in at 4 30, there was a steady rain coming down. Matt. Reporter we have seen everything out here today mark. Right now we are on red mcdowell headed westbound. You can see the traffic flowing pretty well. There is still rain coming down, but nothing like what we saw earlier today. In fact we had video of what we saw earlier today. Heavy rainfall south of the valley as we made our way toward maricopa. The rain gauge picked up 7. 1 inches of rain in the last hour. In less than one hour. The area. That is going to be one of the main threats of the storm as it brings moisture from the south. Off to the north past the down. Visibility slightly obscure thanks to that rain. That is camel back off to the distance there. The rain still obviously coming down and now were approaching traffic, of course those roads are safe. You want to put some distance between you and other persons on the road. Reporter and again, that was sheriff elect paul penzone speaking a few moments ago. We were the first station to interview him oneonone. He told us he had not received a concession from Sheriff Joe Arpaio and it was clear he wasnt expecting to, nor was he waiting for that. Paul penzone has been waiting for this day and ready to plow ahead with running the Maricopa County sheriffs office. You will remember he lost in 2012 by an error of margin i he sued the sheriff for defamation at one point over a campaign ad. Paul penzone clearly knows what he wants to do and extended an olive branch to cherish Sheriff Joe Arpaio supporters. He says he wants to be sheriff to all the people. He now takes on a department that has had many problems that he is inheriting a pretty tough job right now. My colleague spoke to Paul Penzones wife veronica just a few moments ago.
